Slapped 7-8 times, kicked in chest and sensitive parts: Swati Maliwal in FIR
NCP chief Sharad Pawar has written a letter to RS Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, requesting a thorough investigation into the incident. Pawar emphasizes the legitimate right of Members of Parliament (MPs) to seek clarification on matters affecting the safety and sanctity of the parliamentary environment, which he describes as an iconic symbol of democracy in the country.
Highlighting the smoke canister attack in Lok Sabha on December 13, where individuals released yellow smoke from canisters after jumping from the public gallery, Pawar expresses deep concern, especially in the context of the terrorist attack on the same day in 2001.
He criticizes the government for not providing a statement addressing the incident and finds it disheartening that MPs seeking explanations have been suspended. Pawar deems the suspension of over 90 MPs, including around 45 from the Rajya Sabha, counterintuitive to principles of accountability and transparency, urging Chairman Dhankhar to address the matter to uphold the integrity of parliamentary processes and democratic values.
